Project 1:
Art for game/movie idea
“Legend of the Drunken Swine”
Goal:
To develop levels from concept to finished look for a possible game/cartoon movie; develop scenes with animation and develop characters to animate now as well as future for the project.
The Good:
The idea I had come up was solid, developing this idea was strong and would help me improve on my skills in flash. Also allowing me to learn and grow in my character developments. The purpose of this project was design a game/movie and show off the skills in art, from concepts to a finished product. Also I wanted to show off a bit of animation in flash, though it was a little I still felt I had to show some to get the full feel of what I was trying to achieve.
The Bad:
From day one I was positive on what I wanted to achieve, but I knew that time was a factor. With a project like this one I was doing it alone and all the art work was in my hands. From past experiences I had to push myself to the ultimate limit and exceed my own expectations. I do wish I had more time for this project just for the fact of wanting to add more elements as well as character animations and more areas of design. Also I had a bit of programming issues as well, with the help of a fellow student (Justin) we were able to develop a slide show with animation and sound.
The Final Outcome:
The final outcome was a success; I added most of the elements I needed to develop a finished project. If I had more time I would add more, also I would add actual game play for a single “demo” level. I plan on continuing this for future development. More level concepts and trying to refine the story and objective for the game.
This was another great learning experience, and I am planning to continue work on it no matter what it takes, developing this game is on my high priority list. Though I have other projects to attend to I will need to develop this more and put out a good portfolio piece and a finished project.
